  1. Check the current hostname
    $ hostname
    kali
  2. Get more details about the current hostname
    $ hostnamectl
    Static hostname: kali
    Icon name: computer
   Machine ID: f7ca88cae48e4cf3854399d775f91f2b

Operating System: Kali GNU/Linux Rolling

  3. Change the hostname
    $ sudo hostnamectl set-hostname red 1.Edit the /etc/hosts file to reflect your changes
    $ nano /etc/hosts
    • Cha

Windows 10

Yada yada.

(change the hostname)

$ sudo hostnamectl set-hostname superman

1. Select Start > Settings > System > About.

2. Select Rename this PC.

3. Enter a new name & select Next. (You may be asked to sign in.)

4. Select Restart now or Restart later.
